Chiropractic for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in Seattle
Repeating the same motion, such as spending hours a day tapping keys on a keyboard, bagging groceries, or doing assembly line work can cause inflammation which can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome or other repetitive stress injuries. These problems can worsen when combined with poor ergonomics, chronic stress, and poor posture. Working primarily with tech workers, we are all too familiar with how frequently desk jobs lead to carpal tunnel syndrome. We will find the cause of your carpal tunnel and help you develop healthier habits to prevent a reoccurrence of symptoms.
The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway in the wrist that contains the median nerve. When the median nerve become compressed by inflamed ligaments, it can cause symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, including:
- Pain extending from the fingers through the wrist and up the forearm toward the shoulder
- Numbness, tingling, and burning sensations
- Weakness of the hand and fingers
- Inability to grasp objects
Carpal tunnel symptoms usually start gradually and increase with frequency, and the thumb, index and middle fingers are the most affected. The earlier that CTS is diagnosed and treated, the better the outcome, as delayed care can sometimes lead to nerve and muscle damage.
At Devine Chiropractic and Rehab Center we treat CTS with chiropractic adjustments for the wrist and elbow as well as adjustments of the upper spine, Graston therapy (instrument-assisted massage) to release trigger points or hard knots in muscles and ligaments, and therapeutic stretches and exercises exercises to perform at home to strengthen the affected areas.
Whether your carpal tunnel is brought on by computer over-use, sports, or chronic stress, our doctors have the knowledge and skills to help you live pain free. We understand how carpal tunnel pain negatively impacts your life and have decades of experience helping patients fix their carpal tunnel symptoms.
